.The Luge Memoir.

Memoirs
.The Luge.

As I remember all the fun and exciting things I did in the large welcoming town of Queenstown I can Picture one of the biggest tourist attractions in queenstown, the Luge.
I can remember going up the small compact contraptions officially named the Gondola.

Next I picture how terrified I was (I’m afraid of heights) going up, when we reached the first platform I wanted to go back down, I was that scared.
Next you would have to be advised to grab a protective helmet, size ranged from XS to L. I fitted large perfectly.

Of course more boring waits in the next large queue to get to the skyline trams.
They would take you up to the very top of the mountain.  More queues ahead.

I can remember the carts and what they looked like, they black, they weren't to technical apart from the braking and accelerating system. They would be power by the handle bars but as I said nothing technical. It’s natural because when you’d rest the handle bars in the middle on the green section you would go at most speed because it controls the slope of the wheels and the cart itself putting more weight at the front so it would move forward. If you’d drop it completely forwards it would stop instantly because the wheels would go in with a big stop.

The scenic route, it was quite boring with no hills and normal turns  but then I went the experienced route and that had steep sloped corners, steep drops causing you to catch a second of air time. that, I won’t forget.

Thank you Mum for encouraging me to stand up for what I was once afraid of, like the Luge.you went down with the first time and stayed with me the whole time.
